Garden’s Edge: a free quilt block! Blogger’s Bar Hop Quiltalong

Hello friends! Thanks for stopping by for my turn at the Bar Hop!I’m supposed to tell you something about bars, but the only kind of bar I have experience with is a Pumpkin Bar with Cream Cheese Frosting–and let me tell you–it beats any other bar I can think of. :) Anyone want the recipe?

I’m sure by now you know the drill, but just in case you’re not, I’ll explain a little. Scott of Blue Nickel Studios asked us to make a block using Kinkame’s European Taupe VIII collection by Clothworks. We were allowed to use up to two of our own fabrics, I chose a solid and a print.(The light aqua and the brown print.)

My block is quick and easy to put together, and would be a great way to use of all those scraps you have laying around. Seriously.

I love how this block turned out, and think it would make a really fun quilt. Your thoughts?

Here’s the pdf if you’d like to print it. Click here.

xoxo

April

PS Be sure to hop around and get the other fun blocks in this series! You don’t want to miss out.

PPS I got up at 6:25 am to go exercise this morning. It’s really dark that early. (But I DID it!)

  1. 6:45am + exercise = wow! I agree it is dark and chilly that time of morning. I am impressed…I am usually up by 4:00am but have no plans of exercising that time of day! Who knows, maybe I will one day but until that happens I will be happily working away in the studio. Fun block…I love brick work!!! I used to want to be a brick mason until I realized they work in cold wet weather too. I’m more of a warm weather gal.

  2. I am so proud of you. Exercising at that time of the morning – in the dark and cold. Good for you. Way to go, girl. I love your block. Can’t wait to make a whole quilt from your block. Yes, I would love that recipe. Now, you making me hungry just thinking about this recipe.

  3. So good, April! I should come with you guys but Molly isn’t sleeping well now. I love the block. I am going to have to try it out.

  4. I saw a pic on Facebook the other day that’s quite fitting for this post I think: I can’t put the pic in the comment, but the words that are on it I can!

I avoid exercise – I’m in the Fitness Protection Programme! Or something like that anyway!

Hugs and I’d love to see your recipe.

  5. Hello again, April.

Thanks for your block–I can see great possibilities to reduce my stash!

It was interesting to read who was behind the Bar Hop. Scott was a member of the Snohomish, WA quilt guild when I lived there. Great guy!! Took lots of “ribbing” from a mostly all female guild. It’s good to see his success with Blue Nickel.
